Matt Walder is excited to coach against his old side and is ready to roll.

Walder said he has a lot of memories and is looking forward to seeing how the club responds to last week's thrashing at the hands of the Southern Mallee Thunder.

"I have a lot of friends and wonderful memories at the club and at the end of the day we are now in opposite camps and I am looking forward to plotting their downfall," Walder said.

"The main thing for us is we need to work on our overall game as we are nowhere close to being a top-rated side in all facets. Clearances and stoppage rates will be a primary factor.

"I am not here for us to go into our shells, we need to find ways to be more dangerous and to move the football and expose the opposition."

Netballers ready to rebound

The senior netballers competed well against the Thunder and the young team is confident they will bounce back against a more senior Ararat outfit.

Co-coach Leiah McKenzie said they just need to stay consistent.

"It's just about keeping a consistent game over four quarters and focus on our game and not allowing small errors to make us drop off and keep a progressive game," McKenzie said.

"There were a lot of things to like about the game from our attack through to our defence. We just had a lot of small errors and couldn't keep that momentum going.

"The one percenters we will improve on and get better at as we gel as a team and work out what each other's strengths are."

"At training this week we have worked on clearing the ball out of our defensive end and flicking it into attack nice and quick with good ball movement and try and utilise our height a bit more."
