A new chapter
It was an important occasion for the Southern Mallee Co-Operative Parish on Sunday, June 29.

In a joint service, Visitors joined together with locals from Rainbow and Hopetoun in a special service in Hopetoun, which included a dedication and an acknowledgement.
The gathering commenced with a Church Service, during which a booklet prepared by Pam Clugston of Kenmare, was dedicated and launched.
Celebrating the life and witness of Baptist Folk for 131 years and titled, “Memories and Reflections of Baptist Churches in the Mallee, 1891-2025, it includes the contributions from people today, over the last 90 years, with stories from beyond.
A copy will be donated to the local historical society to make these stories available to those interested, both now and in the future.
After the service, a plaque recognising Baptist life in the district was unveiled by Speed Resident Les Down and Norrie Poulton of Hopetoun.
They were supported by Robin Grogan, all three representing Baptists in the District.
The day was a wonderful event and a generous table of food was provided with the sharing of friendship and stories over good food.
Mrs Libby Gregory of Swan Hill, representing the Uniting Church Presbytery of Loddon Mallee, participated in the service and led a conversation after the meal to discuss continuing the ministry of Rev Susan Pearse.
The decision to continue for a further three years after 2025, was made and the Hopetoun and Rainbow Congregations look forward to going forward in faith, hope and love.
