Community spirit shines at Warracknabeal Christmas Festival
More than 600 locals gathered in town on Sunday, December 14, for the Warracknabeal Action Group’s annual Christmas Festival evening, creating a lively, family-friendly celebration.

Christmas Festival committee president and Warracknabeal Action Group vice president Kathryn Wilken-Jackson said the strong turnout reflected the community’s enthusiasm for the event.
“Our Christmas festival was amazing, and it was very well supported by our community,” Ms Wilken-Jackson said.
“We had over 600 guests attend the evening, which was phenomenal, with a very good mix of families and children.”
While windy conditions meant a jumping castle could not go ahead, Ms Wilken-Jackson said safety remained the priority, and children were still well entertained throughout the night.
“Unfortunately, we were unable to have the jumping castle due to the weather conditions with the wind, but safety is obviously paramount in these situations,” she said.
“The kids were very, very well entertained and really enjoyed a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus, and even had a bit of a dance with them.”
She said Carols by Candlelight was a standout feature that brought people from different backgrounds together.
“Our Carols by Candlelight was another fantastic segment,” she said.
“We are an inclusive community carol, so lots of different people from lots of different walks of life come together to sing, which is really special during the festive period.”
Ms Wilken-Jackson said food vendors were kept busy throughout the evening.
“We had great support from our food vendors as well, so nobody left hungry,” she said.
“The community seemed to enjoy a really good night out.
“It was a great family atmosphere.”
She said feedback from attendees had been overwhelmingly positive, with organisers focused on affordability.
“I’ve had nothing but positive reviews, which has been absolutely wonderful,” Ms Wilken-Jackson said.
“All the activities were free for families and kids, with just a small $2 entry, which we feel is a very good value.”
Ms Wilken-Jackson acknowledged the efforts of volunteers and sponsors.
“Our volunteers put in a mammoth amount of hours behind the scenes to get this event happening, and also their efforts were commendable throughout the year,” she said.
“A massive thank you to all our volunteers and sponsors, we could not have done it without their support.”
She encouraged community members to get involved next year.
“This is an annual event, and we’ll be starting extra early next year,” Ms Wilken-Jackson said.
“If people love Christmas and want to be part of a great community organisation, they can check out the Warracknabeal Action Group Facebook page.”
She also shared a Christmas message for the community.
“This time of year can be a time of joy, but also a time of sadness for many,” she said.
“We want everyone to be safe, look after one another, and enjoy the festive period.
“The Warracknabeal Action Group wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas.”
