The under 17 girls had one of their best games possible on Saturday, defensive pressure was on and they were all looking for the best options down the court.
Showing huge improvements from last time we played the Eagles, when mercy rule was put into play at half time scores being 53-3.
However this round the girls managed to hold the mercy rule from coming into play until half way through the fourth quarter, final scores being 72-22.
Bests for the day went to Phoebe Bigham, who had great holds down the attacking end for the midcourters to throw the ball straight into, scoring herself 16 goals by the end of the game.
Harper Benton-Huebner got the second award this week as she had brilliant leads throughout the midcourt, and was always watching for the best option.
This week the girls also had the blue-ribbon award handed out at the start of the game going to Elsa Byron, a player who puts her all into every game, while also having fabulous sportsmanship. Elsa is both a delight on and off the court always looking out for any of her teammates and oppositions.

The under 13s enjoyed a beautiful, sunny morning provided the perfect start to what would become a thrilling contest.
Our girls were buzzing with excitement, eager to see how far they’d come since facing Warracknabeal back in April.
The game began with intensity, and Thunder got off to a strong start. Warracknabeal applied tight pressure across the court, but our defensive trio — Mia Roberts, Pippa Fisher, and Elka — stood tall, creating crucial turnovers that were converted into goals.
Felicity Keller matched Ava’s energy and voice, creating space in the circle and making her presence known. At quarter-time, Thunder held a narrow lead: 7 to 6.
The second quarter turned into a tight contest, with both teams stepping up the pressure. Thunder made a few unforced errors as Warracknabeal disrupted their rhythm, but the girls stayed composed. By halftime, the scores were locked at 14 all.
After a focused halftime break, our mid-court players returned with renewed determination.
They applied strong pressure, stayed composed, and maintained great coverage with hands over the ball and clear communication. Heading into the final quarter, Thunder trailed by just one goal: 23 to 24.
In the final term, the Thunder girls showed just how much they wanted the ball.
Their hunger for possession resulted in several turnovers, but a few missed opportunities kept them from fully capitalising.
Despite their determination and teamwork, Thunder narrowly missed out in a very close finish. Well done to all the girls for a fantastic team effort!
Final score: Warrack Eagles 32 defeated SM Thunder 28 Awards: Felicity Keller, Pippa Fisher, and Mia Roberts.
