Ms Holmes is already well-known in the community having attended Dimboola Memorial Secondary College, and served as CEO at Yarriambiack Shire and as a director in Buloke Shire.

Ms Holmes has been with Hindmarsh Shire Council as the director of infrastructure services for the past 12 month, and was also Victorian Skills Authority’s regional manager for the Wimmera Southern Mallee.

“I am excited to engage strongly with Hindmarsh residents to ensure our rural towns are thriving, focusing on community and economic development,”

Ms Holmes said, “I am excited to engage strongly with Hindmarsh residents to ensure our rural towns are thriving, focusing on community and economic development,” Ms Holmes said.

Hindmarsh Shire mayor Cr Brett Ireland said Ms Holmes’ previous experience working in rural communities will be “invaluable” to both council and the local communities.

“On behalf of Council, we are excited to appoint Ms Holmes as the next CEO of Hindmarsh Shire Council,” Cr Ireland said.

“Ms Holmes has built up strong relationships with community groups and the general community during her twelve months with Council.”

Cr Ireland thanked the departing CEO Greg Wood for leading the council since September 2016.

“Throughout his time, Mr Wood has provided strong leadership and leaves Hindmarsh Shire in a strong financial position,” Cr Ireland said.

“We would like to thank Mr Wood for his service over the past seven years.”

Mr Wood gave notice in April, stating that he would not be seeking reappointment when his term finished this October.

“I would like to congratulate Jessie and I wish her, and Council, all the best for the future,” Mr Wood said.

Ms Holmes will commence in the role on Monday, October 16 2023.
