Floodwater hazards
No matter how shallow floodwater may appear, dangerous hazards may lurk beneath the surface.
Victoria State Emergency Service urges all people to never walk, ride or drive through floodwater; never allow children to play in floodwater; stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain; and keep well clear of fallen power lines.
Road hazards may also include mud, debris and damaged roads or bridges, with potholes often appearing after floodwater has passed by.
Be alert and prepared
Floodwaters may rise and recede slower or faster than expected, so it is vital to be prepared.
