Business and community leaders are inviting people wanting to create a difference in their community to a Precinct Forum in Horsham later this month.

The forum, which has the slogan "It's always the little things that make the big picture", is on Monday May 27 from 10am to noon at Taylors Lake Clubrooms and is under the banner of West Vic Business and Horsham Rural City Council.

Small Business Victoria executive director Ylva Carosene will be the keynote speaker.

West Vic ambassador Stacey Taig said the event was for anyone wanting to build effective, long-term, sustainable and stronger communities.

"With some exciting speakers locked in we are keen to invite people who can make a difference to our regional cities and towns now and into the future," Ms Taig said.

Tourism-driven economies, building for attraction, community planning and retaining growth are among agenda topics.

Other speakers will be Iain Gunn of Gunn and Parkinson, an independent hotel management company which provides management and consulting services; Dan Bruce of Corowa Distilling; and Cinzea Crea of Mainstreet Australia, an organisation which advocates to state and federal governments on the value, of "main-street communities".
