This year’s annual camping trip to the Grampians will be remembered for many things. The scenery. The serenity. And a mystery fit for its own Man in the Corner instalment.

It all kicked off at the Halls Gap Market. After a leisurely wander, the group returned to the cars - only to hear the unmistakable hiss of a tyre leaking.

One of the campers leapt into action, placing his keys on the tray of the ute beside him before crouching down to plug the leak.

Crisis solved. Or so he thought.

When he stood up to grab his keys, the neighbouring ute was gone - driven away with his keys still sitting neatly on the tray.

What followed was organised chaos. Eyewitness recollections varied wildly, offering every colour under the sun.

The group scattered across Halls Gap on foot and by car, searching for any sign of the runaway keys.

To make matters worse, a rogue branch suddenly dropped from above, landing within a foot of his pride and joy.

A cosmic cherry on top of an already shambolic morning.

Accepting defeat, he arranged a lift back to Horsham to grab his spare keys.

Meanwhile, back at the caravan park, the mystery ute’s driver returned to his site - only to discover a random set of keys sitting on his tray.

Realising they weren’t his, he drove them straight back to the market organisers.

What happened next could only happen in a small town: the organisers walked around clicking the remote until a car finally beeped.

They wrote down the registration and took the keys, along with the details, to the local police station.

And the twist? The driver who unknowingly carted the keys away… was staying at the same caravan park.

A day of confusion, coincidence and chaos - wrapped up neatly in true Grampians fashion.
