Wimmera Scouts went on regional scout camp
Wimmera Scouts joined 190 youth and adults for an Adventurer, fun-filled weekend at Cooinda Burrong Scout Camp for this year's Western Regional Scout Camp.

Youth members had the opportunity to rotate through various activities run by different sections of the Outdoor teams and local leaders.
The Abseiling team had an abseiling wall for youth members to descend from, as well as earning important OAS (Outdoor Adventurer Skills) and progressing in Badge work.
This year, we had Splat and Archery Tag for the first time.
Splat was like paintball, but as one youth member said, a lot more fun.
Archery tag featured inflatable objects that allowed youth to hide behind as they fired foam arrows, rather than aiming directly at the opposition.
Pioneering saw Scouts make a suspension bridge that could be finished by the end of the day, so that they could walk across.
They are practically building on their knot skills.
The survival team also came along, and one of the activities was whittling and using a hot stone to make a spoon.
All of these and other activities saw the Scouts build their own knowledge, gain confidence and for some of them come nerves. Building self-confidence in youth.
The most important activity was making new friends and catching up with old ones. Sometimes when you are in a small unit, you can forget how big the Scouting family is.
It was awesome to see them mixing and looking forward to future events where they can catch up.
A huge thank you to Regional Scout Commissioner for Western, Ken McMahon and his team, plus all the activity team members who travelled to provide great experiences for our youth.
The next one will be in Ballarat. If you would like to try Scouting, please get in touch with your local groups in Horsham, Ararat, Warracknabeal, and Rainbow.
