A Mother's Day fundraiser in memory of much-loved mum and grandmum Susan Schilling saw 156 people attend and raised more than $22,000 at Horsham Town Hall on Sunday.

Sisters Mary and Teresa Marchesini made more than 1000 slices and biscuits for guests to enjoy and received a standing ovation once they stepped out of the kitchen.

Organiser Robyn Lardner said it was an excellent afternoon that carried a very important message.

"Susan put everyone else first before her own heart health, which ended up being fatal," Ms Lardner said.

"Last week was Heart Week so the message for getting heart health check-ups is extremely important."

Mrs Schilling's daughter Maddi Howie gave guests a touching tribute to her mother, who died in 2021 after a heart attack, and guest speaker Judy Cater reminded everyone to not ignore symptoms.

Of the total raised, $16,000 is going to Grampians Health cardiac rehab in Horsham - including an anonymous donation of $10,000 - with the remaining $6000 donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria.

"It was a wonderful time," Ms Lardner said.

Mary and Teresa Marchesini said Mrs Schilling lived life to the full, was hard-working, generous and intelligent, and could turn her hand to almost anything.

"But most of all she was an adored mother and grandmother," Mary said.
